Fire, Ice And Waterfalls
THE SOUTH COAST
On this tour we drive along the south coast of Iceland, one of the most scenic routes in the country.
The tour will take us as far as Vík, a idyllic village surrounded by beautiful bird cliffs.
Along the way we will stop at places like the beautiful Seljalandsfoss waterfall, a photogenic waterfall you can walk behind and through to the other side. The next mandatory stop will be at the majestic Skógafoss waterfall which drops some awe-inspiring 60 meters (197 ft.) of its cliff.
During summer (1. may – 15. september) we will also stop at Dyrhólaey cliff which is home to one of Icelands largest puffin colonies and well known for its diverse birdlife.
Next in line is the black sand beach at Reynisfjara where the North-Atlantic ocean hammers the coastline with its ever present strength. There we also have the opportunity to admire the basalt-columns in the cliffs above the beach and get great photos of Reynisdrangar rock formations.
After the black beach we head to Vík where we might grab a late lunch and visit the Ice-Wear shop for some souvenirs.
Additional stop on this tour is the Urriðafoss waterfall on the glacial river Þjórsá, often ignored by the major tour operators.
Optional stops might include, but are not limited to: the Eyjafjallajökull Visitor Center (admittance fee), the Gljúfrabúi waterfall and the Skógar Folk Museum (admittance fee).
As this is a tour with a packed schedule expect to spend at least the full 12 hours. But, as with all our tours, this is a private tour so the schedule and pace is set by you, the customer.
