Icebergs and Black Sand

THE JOKULSARLON GLACIER LAGOON TOUR

This scenic tour takes us some 380 km east, along Icelands south coast. On the way we will pass most of the places that are visited on the South Coast Tour and we will even stop at some of them. On our way east we will stop at both Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls and even grab a quick lunch in Vík. And of course there will be short but well timed stops to stretch the legs.

But our main goal on this tour is the magnificent Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, the biggest of its kind in Iceland and surely a place worth visitng.
The lagoon began to form in the 1920s and is getting bigger every year. On the lagoon you will see many floating icebergs which have broken off the Vatnajökull glacier, Europes largest glacier.
Once at our destination you will have the option of taking a boat ride on the lagoon with one of the amphibious vehicles which operate there. Please note that the availability of the boat rides are dependent on conditions on the lagoon and though available most of the year there is always a possibility that conditions are not favorable. Fee for the boat ride is not included in the tour price.

Our stop at the lagoon will last an hour or two so you will have ample opportunity to take in the place and take all the pictures you want. We will even go down to the beach where we might find some ice from the lagoon.

As we head back towards Reykjavik we might do some short stops along the way, for example at Svínafellsjökull glacier tongue, the Eldhraun lava field or Reynisfjara black sand beach.

But, as with all our tours, this is a private tour so the schedule and pace is set by you, the customer.
